Meditate on the Word:
One thing to remember about God’s anger is that it is never unwarranted. In fact, God is the only One who has a right to true righteous anger. As sinful people, we do not have that right. God’s anger, however, is not the not the central feature of His character. Remember that “God is love” (1 John 4:16). His great love means that He is merciful. Even when He is angry, His punishment is tempered by His mercy.
I think it helps if we focus on our Lord’s mercy. We have received much that we do not deserve, particularly in forgiveness of our sins. When we recognize that, it is essential that we share that mercy with others. We have no right to continually punish someone for sins against us when we have been forgiven so much. Let us share the mercy we have received.
