Read the Word:
Daniel 7:13-14
Meditate on the Word:
For thousands of years of history, various nations and empires have risen and fallen at various times. Some have lasted a short time and others several centuries. Man-made institutions always fall. This is because they are thought up and administered by sinful, flawed people who make mistakes. Daniel had seen Israel fall when he was young, and seventy years later, the Babylonian empire he was pressed into serving would fall when he was old. More empires would rise and fall before the birth of the Messiah. Since his Ascension, empires have continued to rise and fall. Through all this, faithful people have continued to serve Christ and await His return.
We can take great comfort in knowing that even though earthly nations rise and fall, we serve the King who has an everlasting dominion. We serve the King of all creation. We serve the King of all people. People of every nation and language serve Him. We must not fear the loss of earthly man-made nations; instead, we must look to the One whose Kingdom will not pass away or be destroyed.
Pray the Word:
Thank our Lord for His steadfastness in an unstable world.
