Read the Word:
Revelation 1:9-18
Meditate on the Word:
While many associate the book of Revelation with frightening imagery (and there is plenty), it is much better understood as a book to encourage the church to faithfulness in any circumstance. So many people market fear based on the writings of this book, yet we read our Lord’s words to John in verse 12, “Don’t be afraid. I am the First and the Last, and the Living One. I was dead, but look–I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades.” It should be a great encouragement to believers that we serve a God this powerful.
Our Lord’s Resurrection proves that His word is true. Everything that He tells us is trustworthy. This means that yes, terrible things can and will happen to Christians. It also means that in the end, we will all be with our Lord in glory, so there is even much more reason to hope than to fear. The One who was dead and is alive assures us that we too, will be alive again.
Pray the Word:
Thank our Lord for the hope found in His word.
