Read the Word:
Jeremiah 3:19-25
Meditate on the Word:
It’s a story that has played out again, over and over, since the Garden of Eden. It continues among people today. God desires a close relationship with mankind. He wants His people to draw close to Him and receive the blessings that come from that relationship. He blesses a group of people greatly, then they want something more. The people forget about Him and turn to worship of something lesser. They forget the God who has loved them and brought them through trials. They become unfaithful to God and abandon Him.
It is hurtful if you have loved, cared, and provided for someone only to have them walk away. I know people that have had friends, spouses, and even children walk away and abandon them. The hurt that these people feel is unimaginable. God also feels pain when we abandon Him for our own selfish desires. When we walk away from Him for a world that does not love us. When we neglect what He wants to be a great relationship with Him and replace it with something lesser.
Let us keep in mind that God desires a close relationship with us and draw closer to Him today.
Pray the Word:
Is there any way in which you have been unfaithful to our Lord? If so, confess it to Him today.
