Read the Word:
Malachi 3:13-18
Meditate on the Word:
Have you ever broken a rule when an authority figure was not looking? I used to love to drive on the stretched of long, straight highway back home late at night. There were few police, and I could generally get away with going significantly over the speed limit. It never really occurred to me that the rule wasn’t about giving the police something to enforce. It was about keeping me safe. If I had blown a tire, for instance, the accident would likely have been fatal. Or if a deer had come out of nowhere, what would have happened? I did face some consequences: my cars did not last as long as they could have.
Many people today feel that it is useless to serve God. They are often blind to His benefits and only able to see things that they could do if they shed His outdated rules and morals. They see people living lives in complete defiance of Him and not only appearing to be happy, but making a name for themselves in this world. But rest assured that God knows who has a high regard for His name and who does not. His rules are given to us for our good, not because He wants to deny us happiness. He is simply aware of the consequences we face when living outside His will.
Pray the Word:
Is there an area where you are living outside of God’s will? Confess and repent.
