Read the Word:
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Meditate on the Word:
I have often used this passage to comfort those in attendance at a Christian brother or sister’s funeral. They are a reminder of two things. The first is that we will see our dead loved ones again in the resurrection when Christ returns. The second is that Christ will return and make everything right. This world is a difficult place. We need for Christ to return. We long for Christ to return.
God’s people had been waiting for centuries for the birth of the Messiah. They longed for the day that they would see him. As we anticipate the celebration of Christmas, we think of that anticipation and our own as we await seeing our Lord face to face.
Pray the Word:
Let the Lord know today how much you are looking forward to His return.
