Read the Word:
Psalm 111:1-10
Meditate on the Word:
How often do we really stop to think about the works of God? To consider all the things that He has done? To study them closely? I would venture to say, likely, not nearly enough. The God who created the world and everything in it with the spoken word also knows and cares about the details of our lives. This is wonderful to think about. It is awesome to think that our God has delivered (and continues to deliver) us from a variety of evils.
We are very familiar with the final verse of this psalm, and it bears remembering. But we should remember that fear of the Lord begins with knowing Him. We can know Him by His works. We can know His power by studying creation. We can know His love and mercy by studying the life and death of Jesus. We can know his authority by studying the history of His people. We can know His wisdom by observing the way He has had His hand in the entire history of mankind. When we know Him, we can properly reverence Him. Then, we see the importance of obedience.
Pray the Word:
Pick out one work of God in your life and thank Him for it today.
