Read the Word:
Psalm 22:25-31
Meditate on the Word:
In the first 21 verses of this psalm, the psalmist is clearly feeling pressure from all sides. He feels abandoned by God, surrounded by enemies, unhealthy, and mocked. Not the kind of situation where one normally feels motivated to offer praise to God. It is much easier to praise God when things go well. When we feel His presence with us. When we feel healthy and fed. When we are surrounded by those who love us. But, not all of life goes our way, even as God’s children.
David knows that God is trustworthy and worthy to be praised in all situations. He is aware that while, at times, it may appear that the enemy is winning, that God is ultimately victorious. God’s victory and worthiness of praise have nothing to do with our current circumstances. They have everything to do with His goodness. His mercy. His holiness. We do well to remember that our God is always worthy of our praise. No matter how we feel in the moment.
Pray the Word:
Offer to the Lord a word of praise this morning. Thank Him for something that He has delivered you from.
