Read the Word:
Psalm 145:3-7
Meditate on the Word:
If one spends any amount of time on social media, he/she can observe generational squabbles. It seems as though older generations are singled out for their difficulty with technology and their “outdated” morals. Younger generations are often targeted for shifting morals, their perceived selfishness, and even their “lack of a work ethic.” While some of this may be in good-natured fun, a lot of it is seriously unhelpful and damaging to relationships.
If we look to the scriptures, we see that parents are required to instruct their children. Of course, we can easily focus on teaching our children right from wrong, but that is not the end of what we are to teach our children. As the psalmist reminds us today, we should be telling our children not just about God’s law, but about His wonderful works. We should encourage our children to love Him and celebrate Him. When we tell our children about God’s wonderful works, we encourage them to tell the next generation. When we fail to do this, along comes a generation who does not know God, who thinks that He is not important in their lives. And nothing could be farther from the truth.
Pray the Word:
Find something to praise God for today. Later, share that something with someone from the next generations.
