Read the Word:
Acts 23:12-25
Meditate on the Word:
There had once been a time when Paul was the enemy of Christ. He was actively seeking to arrest Christians. That was his purpose in going to Damascus, when he had that famous encounter with the resurrected Lord (Acts 9). Now, his former colleagues and friends were attempting to kill Paul for the same reason that he had formerly wanted to kill followers of Christ. Those who are enemies of the Lord are also enemies of His disciples.
These men were willing to go to a lot of trouble to kill Paul. Forty men attacking a cohort of Roman soldiers might have been able to accomplish their plan, but at great peril to themselves. Their hatred of Paul and his teaching (which they mostly misunderstood) led to them being willing to die to stop the spread of his teaching. They were willing to die to stop the spread of Christ! Such people still exist today.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to foil the plans of the enemy in your life today.
